Picture Perfect

I have writer friends with extensive picture files. Teachers frequently use pictures to promote writing. My picture files are mostly used for teaching, but once in awhile, I find an image that propels me into a new piece, or fits a piece already in progress. The novel I’m working on is a historical fantasy that takes place in Portugal in 1762. It’s been one of those works-in-progress for years. I wish I could give credit to the artist of the picture below, because it’s one that speaks to my novel. A painting I did years ago contains some of the same elements. No, I’m not sharing it. I might take another peek at it, though…

When you find an image that appeals to you, hang on to it. The reason may become clear later.
