Exhilaration

“I am comfortable with my heart exhilarated.”

We went on a word search today. T-shirt words. You’ll see a slew of them on Kaj’s blog, but this exhilarated quote suited my wound-up, wired and tired son to a T.

Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, with numerous halls, ponds, and fountains throughout its statued grounds of deep forests and stair-cased hills was alive with incense, prayer, and multi-toned chanting today. Not to mention the always entertaining temple turtles, who hustled themselves into a chorus line to take our requests…

And the highlight of my day? Well, not every mom would respond this way, but this Monster Mama is soooo proud. My kid ate a grasshopper!

Surprises everywhere.

Just like good stories.

  • Hey, Kaj.

You are the best! Way to eat! Bring back a few for us, ok?

Jean says “I really like that you’re eating a grasshopper. It looked pretty funny. I really want to try one because it looks really interesting!”

We all miss you both. So glad you’re having a great time.

    See you soon!

  • Eating grasshoppers – wow! Kaj could have been St. Urho’s assistant . . . . . glad he is a better eater than his aunt! Sounds like you are having a fun trip (and meaningful). You will have great memories, can’t wait to hear more when I see you or talk to the two of you. Miss you, Cindy

  • “wound-up, wired and tired”…….I love the way these words sound together! They belong together don’t they? I wonder which one comes first (like the chicken or the egg) or if they always come in threes?! I miss you, miss you my friend! Happy Japaning! One more thing…I have created a new word…..you will understand what it means when you relate it to my situation…..The new word: “assicity”. Hope you get a good chuckle out of that one!
